The Loggerhead hatchling (about 3 inches long) is not much larger than the shell-half on the sand nearby. Only moments before, this young sea turtle dug himself out of a deep sandy nest high up on the beach. Instinct led him on a trek toward the ocean. He has almost made it to the beginning of his life in the sea.
