This is no digital image trickery. It is a full-fledged daylily blossom carefully sliced in half with a razor-sharp blade, then the image captured with the scanner. The range of shades of gold that actually make up such a flower are clearly visible as the soft yellows gradually change to golden and finally reddish hues. (Note to self: Watch out for the pollen next time -- then you won't have to spend 15 hours or so editing!)
The prints are made using Epson Premium Luster photo paper with an Epson 9800 printer and K3 Photo Black inks. The paper and inks are archival quality independently rated to last 70 years
