I often try and create photographs of animals which also reflect their unique environments.  The towering dunes of the central Namib Desert in Namibia are where these Gemsbok call home. Gemsbok (Oryx Gazella) are specifically adapted to live in this extremely harsh, yet stunningly beautiful environment.  They can traverse the enormous dunes, using a rocking-horse motion to move through the soft sand on the dune faces.  I had worked with this group for about a week, and could predict their movements  fairly well. I just managed to reach a slightly higher dune as they approached the crest.  Timing is everything with many aspects of wildlife photography.
