This image was taken on an early December morn in Death Valley National Park. The Mesquite Flats dunes are the most photographed in the Park, and getting a new view of them is difficult. For this image, I chose to use the Nikkor 300mm f2.8 Auto D lens on my Nikon D70 body, giving an effective focal length of 450mm and compressing the dunes against the shadowed background. I have printed this as a panoramic so that the dunes are shown in all their elegance in the warm, early morning light. 3 sizes available, Open Edition.
