A gift from the gods really - the camera's wind came loose and only partially wound the film between exposures - a chance multiple exposure. Disappointment at having lost many images from the jam quickly turned to amazement on discovering this gem a few weeks later. Ironically, I was telling the story of the Japanese sun goddess Amaterasu, speaking of her palpitable presence in the Japanese mountains still, at the moment of the uncanny and unintended capture.
