Screen vs. Print Quality
One of a series of images from the Galapagos Islands. This Giant Tortoise, which in Spanish is called “Galapago”, was so unusual to see that early visitors named the islands after it. Scientists believe they arrived at the Galapagos Islands by floating from the mainland and have evolved into unique sub-species only found there. The red bird taking the ride is also a unique sub-specie of the Vermilion Flycatcher and is hard to find and photograph. While I was taking photos of this dome-shaped Galapogo in the highlands of Santa Cruz Island, this colorful bird landed on the tortoise and posed for this wonderful photo. The original photo was taken with a Nikon D1X digital camera. The image was then downloaded and digitally enhanced. The archival "fine art giclee" prints are produced using the professional-level Epson 7800 Photographic Printer with "ultrachrome K3" ink on Epson's Somerset Velvet paper, creating a soft, matted "painting-like" finish. Signed & numbered limited edition: 8x12 & 12x18, 100 prints each; 16x24, 50 prints each; all others, 25 prints each.
