Initially a self taught Photographer, Ray received his professional training through the New York Institute of Photography. He has been shooting for more than 40 yrs; having experimented intensely with 35mm and Medium Format. He has recently become more serious about his image making, on the Artistic and Creative side, and has chosen (as many photographers have) Digital Media as his primary form of Photography.Ray is a member of The N.Y.I of Photography and an active member of the New Jersey based Tri-County Camera Club, which is rated in the top ten nation wide. Awards include Pictorial and Nature Photographer of the Year,(1999,2000,2001) Nature Slide of the Year (2004). Several awards from the Teaneck C.C. (2000) and New Jersey Federation of Camera Clubs (2003,2004). Ray uses the ambience of natural light and knows how crucial it is to capture the shot at just the right moment, for when a moment is frozen in time, the scene will never be exactly the same. He tries to capture the vision as close to what is observed with the natural eye and does minimize any manipulation in PhotoShop, unless it can have a positive effect on the image in question. PhotoShop, however, is used extensively when working in Abstract. His preferences include Still Life, Nature Studies and Aged Objects that reflect a time gone by Artists Statement: How wonderful it is to take a mundane scene and turn it into something spectacular. Use of Light, Timing, Composition and Camera Control is the key. I am still chasing a rainbow....trying to find that perfect image (and having a wonderful time doing it).
